Bumis’ potential to control food market untapped

by Wilson Kong. Posted on February 12, 2012, Sunday

IT’S OFFICIAL: Naroden beats the gong to close the ‘Nangka Bumiputera Economy Convention 2012’. Also seen are Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid (second left) and Dr Annuar (right).

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said Bumiputeras make up nearly 70 per cent of the state’s 2.5 million people, and most of them have land of various sizes.

“If we make good use of the land for agricultural activities such as planting vegetables, chillies, tomatoes, paddy or herbs, Bumiputeras in Sarawak can control the food industry,” he said at the closing ceremony of `Nangka Bumiputera Economy Convention 2012’ here yesterday.

Among those present were Malay paramount leader Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee and Sarawak Orphanage Welfare Board Sibu branch chairman Hamden Merais.

Naroden said every year the country imported food totalling some RM2 billion.
“If Sarawak can produce and control food manufacturing by ourselves, the import of food into the state can be reduced.

“We can also export food, especially halal food, to Peninsular Malaysia or overseas.”
Naroden said there were about six billion Muslims in the world, and the global population continued to expand.

“All the people worldwide need food, and the food needed by Muslims, which totalled six billion, must be halal.

“People who are not Muslims also eat halal food because they are clean and of higher quality.”
On entrepreneurship, Naroden said this field was very challenging and risky. However, he said, one would become rich if the business was managed correctly and enjoyed a bit of luck.

“If we want to be a successful entrepreneur, we have to make enough self preparation and be equipped with the right knowledge, techniques and business acumen.

“Actually, the business world is very interesting and enjoyable. If we can go through the many barriers and challenges, we will definitely succeed.”

My latest addition to the current collection; Garuda Indonesia B737-800 & Kuwait Airways A340-300

OK; It's been a long time since my last post here in my blog,thanks to the works and also the Festive season (Chinese New Year,which falls on Jan 23rd).

Anyhow,back to our original story.On 28/01/2012 (Saturday),I have received my latest addition to my collection,which are:

* Kuwait Airways A340-300 "Warba" by Hogan,and
* Garuda Indonesia B737-800 (PK-GFN;1969-1989 livery) by Gemini Jets.

First,the GA B738.This plane was one of the 2 B737-800s painted in retro livery (the other one was PK-GFM,in 1961-1969 livery).Dubbed as the  "Hockeystick",this livery was used from 1969 to 1989,before it was changed in 1990s.This livery was been spotted on :

* Airbus A300
* Boeing 747-200
* Fokker F28
* McDonnell Douglas DC-9 & DC-10

And here are the photos:

The second one was Kuwait Airways A340-300 (9K-ANA,"Warba") by Hogan,also in 1:400 scale.

The actual plane (cn 089), was delivered to KU on 29th March 1995,It is one of the 4 A340-300s operated by Kuwait Airways (the others was 9K-ANB, "Bayan",9K-ANC, "Meskan" and 9K-AND,"Al-Riggah").

Below are the photo of the models:

The only reason why i'm grabbing this Kuwait Airways model was to commemorate my youngest brother flight to the United States (KUL-KWI-LHR-JFK) which will take place on February 2012,and he will be flying onboard their A340 all the way from Kuala Lumpur to New York-JFK International Airport.
